Πραγματοποιεί ορθοπεδικές επεμβάσεις όπως αρθροπλαστικές ισχίου και γόνατος, αρθροσκοπήσεις ώμου και γόνατος (μηνίσκος και χιαστός), στην χειρουργική ποδοκνημικής και άκρου ποδός, καθώς και στην αναγεννητική ιατρική (βιολογικές θεραπείες).
Βιογραφικό
Ο ορθοπεδικός χειρουργός Γεώργιος Xλωρός γεννήθηκε και μεγάλωσε στην Αθήνα και αποφοίτησε από το Κολλέγιο Αθηνών. Σπούδασε Ιατρική στα γαλλικά, στο Πανεπιστήμιο της Λιέγης στο Βέλγιο και μετέβη στις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες της Αμερικής στο Πανεπιστήμιο Wake Forest (Wake Forest University), στο Winston-Salem της Βόρειας Καρολίνας. Πραγματοποίησε την ειδικότητα της ορθοπεδικής χειρουργικής στις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες της Αμερικής στο Πανεπιστήμιο Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), στο Richmond της Virginia, καθώς και στο νοσοκομείο ΝΙΜΤΣ στην Αθήνα.
Μετά το πέρας της ειδικότητας του, ολοκλήρωσε με επιτυχία την μετεκπαίδευσή του στο Allegheny General Hospital (AGH), στο Pittsburgh της Pennsylvania, όπου εξειδικεύτηκε σε ένα ευρύ φάσμα της ορθοπεδικής χειρουργικής, συμπεριλαμβανομένης και της χειρουργικής του άκρου ποδός, με μέντορά του μεταξύ άλλων τον Dr. James Sferra, κορυφαίο χειρουργό άκρου ποδός στις ΗΠΑ. Κατόπιν, μετέβη στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο όπου εργάσθηκε ως ορθοπεδικός χειρουργός στο Πανεπιστημιακό Νοσοκομείο του Leeds (Leeds General Infirmary – LGI), μεγάλο Κέντρο Αναφοράς που συγκαταλέγεται ανάμεσα στα κορυφαία τμήματα ορθοπεδικής χειρουργικής στην Μεγάλη Βρετανία κάνοντας περαιτέρω μετεκπαίδευση στο ορθοπεδικό τραύμα, στο πλευρό του διάσημου Καθηγητή Παναγιώτη Γιαννούδη επί 2 συναπτά έτη.
Έχει πραγματοποιήσει εκατοντάδες χειρουργικές επεμβάσεις με επιτυχία, έχοντας αποκτήσει πολυετή εμπειρία σε μεγάλα κέντρα του εξωτερικού ιδίως στις Η.Π.Α.. Διαθέτει πλήρη άδεια ασκήσεως ιατρικού επαγγέλματος στις Η.Π.Α. στην Πολιτεία της Pennsylvania (MD465887), καθώς και στη Μεγάλη Βρετανία (GMC6049891).
Ο Ορθοπεδικός Χειρουργός κ. Χλωρός, υπήρξε επικεφαλής ερευνητικών εργασιών σε συνεργασία με τα μεγάλα κέντρα του εξωτερικού στα οποία εκπαιδεύτηκε. Έχει δημοσιεύσει πάνω από 85 πρωτότυπα επιστημονικά άρθρα στα εγκυρότερα διεθνή περιοδικά της ορθοπεδικής χειρουργικής, όπως το Annals of Surgery, Journal of Bone and joint surgery, Injury, Arthroscopy, Journal of Hand Surgery, κλπ. Έχει συγγράψει 8 κεφάλαια σε σπουδαία αμερικανικά εγχειρίδια ορθοπεδικής χειρουργικής (textbook chapters), συμπεριλαμβανομένης και της “Βίβλου” της χειρουργικής χεριού (Green’s Operative Hand Surgery), και άλλων. Είναι κριτής εργασιών (Reviewer) σε πάνω από 15 διεθνή περιοδικά. Έχει παρουσιάσει πληθώρα πρωτότυπων εργασιών σε πάνω από 25 διεθνή συνέδρια, και επίσης και σε κάποια ελληνικά. Έχει τιμηθεί με 4 βραβεία, συμπεριλαμβανομένου και του πρώτου βραβείου από την αμερικανική εταιρεία χειρουργικής χεριού (American Society for Surgery of the Hand), και έχει λάβει επίσης και χρηματοδότηση από την ίδια εταιρεία. Έχει επίσης πλούσιο διδακτικό έργο, εκπαιδεύοντας νέους ιατρούς καθώς και ειδικευόμενους ορθοπεδικής χειρουργικής στην Αμερική και στην Αγγλία.

Παρουσίασεις σε διεθνή συνέδρια
Έχει επίσης συμμετάσχει σε πολλά μεγάλα διεθνή συνέδρια ορθοπεδικής χειρουργικής, ως εκπαιδευτης (faculty), καθως και ως προσκεκλημένος ομιλητής (presenter), για να παρουσιάσει το καινοτόμο επιστημονικό έργο της ομάδας του σε συναδέλφους ορθοπεδικούς χειρουργούς ανά τον κόσμο.
Η έρευνά του έχει λάβει βραβεία και χρηματοδοτήσεις από τους πιο έγκυρους οργανισμούς, όπως η Αμερικανική Εταιρεία Χεριού.
Κεφάλαια σε βιβλία
Ως αναγνωρισμένος επιστήμονας στον τομέα της ορθοπεδικής χειρουργικής, έχει προσκληθεί να συγγράψει πληθώρα κεφαλαίων στα πιο έγκυρα και σοβαρά αμερικανικά βιβλία. Τα συγγράμματα αυτά θεωρούνται παγκόσμιες πηγές αναφοράς στην ορθοπεδική χειρουργική και εκεί θα ανατρέξει κάποιος ορθοπεδικός χειρουργός όταν αντιμετωπίζει ένα δύσκολα επιλύσιμο πρόβλημα, όπως παραδείγματος χάρη στη “Βίβλο” της χειρουργικής χεριού του Green.
Κριτής Εργασιών
Ο κ. Χλωρός πάντοτε είχε ιδιαίτερη σχέση με τους νέους ιατρούς καθ’όλη τη διάρκεια της ακαδημαϊκής του πορείας. Έχει υπάρξει Μέντορας πολλών Ελλήνων φοιτητών ιατρικής που έχουν βρει θέση ειδικότητας σε περιζήτητα προγράμματα στις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες της Αμερικής, όπως Harvard, Mayo Clinic, Brown University, Tufts, University of Pittsburgh, Emory, και πολλά άλλα. Κατά τη διάρκεια της εξειδίκευσής του στις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες της Αμερικής, το ενδιαφέρον του αυτό συνεχίστηκε αμείωτο με την εκπαίδευση Αμερικανών ειδικευομένων ορθοπεδικών πάνω σε καινοτόμες χειρουργικές τεχνικές. Είναι επίσης επικεφαλής της ομάδας Έρευνας της Ορθοπεδικής του “Συλλόγου Νέων Ιατρών” και ως Συνεργάτης της Α’ Ορθοπεδικής Κλινικής του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών διδάσκει για χρόνια στο Πανεπιστήμιο τους πεμπτοετείς φοιτητές στα πλαίσια του μαθήματος της Ορθοπεδικής.
